Customer Testimonials

'Doris is without a shadow of a doubt the best trainer I've ever met. She started training our 3 1/2 month old bullmastiff to be a service dog. After 6 short weeks, Taylor can sit, lay, stay, heel, walk on a loose leash with distractions, search for us, and she knows when she's "working" and when she can be a puppy. We owe this all to Doris's work and guidance for us. Her knowledge of dog psychology is amazing. We will recommend her as the only trainer on charlottepsychdog.com!' Darryl Savage, Charlotte

'Doris Anderson is the best dog trainer I’ve ever worked with. She’s very experienced and has a broad understanding of animal behavior and animal owner behavior.  Some dog trainers tend to be intimidating, but Doris gently guides you and your dog to a happy healthy relationship.' 'Our sessions with you were excellent. You came highly recommended which was necessary due to the aggressive nature of  Fergie’s behavior.  I appreciated your honesty and candor when you told me Fergie would always have some aggressive behaviors but felt like you really believed we could do a lot to the environment to help him be more comfortable.  I appreciated your flexibility with scheduling and attempting to include both my husband and I even though our daughter was present.  I would imagine it is difficult for some people to hear “criticisms” about their behaviors and how they take care of your dog but I always felt like you made a point to understand where we were coming from and relate to us.  I definitely feel like the cost and time for training was worth it! Thank you for everything!' Audrey Bartholomew, Charlotte

'I always had a great bond with my dog. However, after training with K9-Bootcamp, I feel like my dog and I better understand and listen to each other.  Doris really knows what she is talking about, and my dog responded very well with her.  Instead of just going through the motions, she took the time to explain to me how the cues and positive reinforcement work so that I could better understand the workings of my dog’s mind.  I would definitely recommend K9-Bootcamp to anyone who owns a dog!'

'Thanks to Doris, my boys, Jackson and Montana , are much better behaved! I receive compliments all the time and I have to give Doris all the credit for teaching me how to be a better pet mom! It is amazing how much you can teach your dog with the right tools. I have two Saint Bernard's and I am not a big person so it was extremely important that my boys listened to me. We Love You Doris! Thanks for all the help'. Gina, Conrad, Montana and Jackson, Belmont

'Doris has a great approach that incorporates solid info about dog behavior, along with being very practical. I am lucky to have a well tempered, gentle labradoodle puppy, but Doris's expert instruction has accelerated his ability to interact with me, my wife, and our two year old daughter as a true member of our family'. 'When we found K-9 bootcamp we were scared we were going to have to get rid of our dog for showing aggression towards our son. Luckily for us, after working with Doris, we learned it was not aggression but our dog communicating when he had enough. After 6 weeks of training, our boys are all on their best behavior and everyone is able to co-exists safely and happily. Thanks to Doris we were able to keep our happy family intact and now understand our dogs on a whole new level (and they understand us now too!).'

'Doris is great! I have a willful pomeranian who had difficulty with housetraining and basic obedience. Thanks to Doris, he is a new dog. All of my friends have noticed a huge difference and he and I have a better relationship. I chose to do the 6 session in-home training and it was convenient and affordable'. Laura Lavato, Charlotte

'Training with Doris was outstanding!  Her experience, professionalism and patience were beneficial in training our Rottweiler puppy; and train us to be better pack leaders.  The training program was tailored to our needs and the homework and handouts served to reinforce each lesson.  Doris took the time to understand our experience and Rommel’s’ skill set and built upon both.  Training was educational and fun and we all look forward to the next level with Doris (and Yukon)!' Alicia Hanna, Mooresville

'Doris was simply fantastic. It was clear that this is her true passion and she puts all of her heart and energy into each session. Her techniques were effective and the homework sheets were good reminders. She really helped us understand the underlying reasons for our dog Keebler’s behavior which gave us more patience in dealing with him.'

'Doris came in to train our two Papillon puppies, Lilly and Oliver, at the age of 7 months.  We learned basic commands and how to teach them ourselves through encouragement and rewards. We were amazed at how well they responded to her.  She had Oliver backing off from the doorway while it was open and he would not pass her! We worked on loose leash walking and the dogs are much better now. We are working on Oliver’s reactiveness (he loves people, and is very vocal). Lilly did very well with her assignments and we have exercises to help with her shyness. It is homework for the parents but the results are worth it. They enjoy being “trained” and when they seem bored and/or getting into mischief we do some “homework” and they are happy again. Doris has a natural way with dogs and they can sense it. She is genuinely caring and loves them as her own. She is not harsh, but loving and encouraging. We loved having her as a trainer and look forward to working with her more in the future.'
Update: I was telling Tony how I can't believe the difference in them!  Just today I was walking them and another dog, a huge great dane, was walking down the block with his owner, very well behaved I might add. I prepared myself, treats in hand and kept them focused on me instead of the big dog, they only pulled slightly and barked only once! I was able to redirect their attention the entire time this dog walked by us!!! That would never have happened a month ago! They walk loose leashed all the time, with no pulling! and if they get too far you call their name they come right to you. It's amazing! Thank you for helping us!'

'We had a great time. I love how the lessons and homework aren’t generic, but tailored to us and our dog. I also like the fact that you come to our house. Our sessions were always fun and allowed us to fine tune how we train Bijou in order to get the best results. My favorite lesson was the ‘touch’ exercise. It really helped Bijou break out of her shell with strangers. I think we use this exercise the most. It helps her overcome her irrational fears. My second favorite is ‘stay’. Bijou was in the habit of following us around the house, even if she was dead tired, she would wake up and get up and follow us to another room. But now, if we are watching TV on the couch and Bijou is with us, if we get up to do something, we simply say “stay” and she doesn’t follow. It’s great. You were always available via email to answer any questions we had during the week too. We really enjoyed working with you and have seen a vast improvement in Bijou already.' 'Doris has the ability to see a situation from both dog and owner’s point of view.  Since we have to work with our dogs, it’s really helpful that she can assess both.  I learned so much watching her work with Henry and with the other people in our class. Seeing her interact with dogs showed not only how much she knows, but helped me to see ways of learning. I wanted to learn more ways to help keep Henry calm when we see or pass dogs and I did. Also, I wanted to have a structured environment in which to work together. Doris creates that perfectly.' 'Doris did a wonderful job dealing with Lexi and Lexi loved Doris. I really appreciate her hard work and dedication. You can tell she put a lot of effort into the information she gave us each class. 'Doris was exactly what we needed.
She helped Scooter (and us) tremendously.  She
was willing to change course if needed when Scooter was afraid of the clicker she was quick to give us an alternative method so as not to scare him anymore. She packed each session and was able to read Scooter and understand when he had enough. I would recommend K9-Boot Camp and Doris to everyone and anyone!' Megan & Michael Leroch , Charlotte

'Doris' good people skills earned my trust to allow her to keep my Shih-Tzu puppy, Sasha, for a month to correct some behavioral issues. During the time Doris kept Sasha she was able to read her refusal behavior withdrawl. She knew the characteristics of the Shih-Tzu breed and was able to train with commands like "sit, stay, heel, come and no". She also corrected the issue of my puppy pooping inside the house. Most of all, she helped me in the process by expanding my knowledge and showing me different ways to get behavior issues that I wanted from Sasha resolved.' Tameshia

'I have witnessed Doris’ professionalism and ability to work with animals as she has been our pet-sitter several times.  My husband and I have two dogs and a cat, and Doris has always been willing to take care of them when we have to go out of town.  Our pets feel at ease with her and they are always excited to go over to her house or yard for a visit.  Also, it is easy to see that Doris is mindful of the different manners and behaviors of different animals and tailors her approach to each pet accordingly.  My dogs (Yawkey and Riff), and my cat (Spicoli) are very important to me and it is a great comfort to know that they are in such capable hands.' 'Doris possesses a wealth of knowledge for the care of animals. Everyone knows her as the person to go to if you have a question or problem with your pet. I also know Doris to be a great dog sitter. She watches my dog, Peppa for me when we go out of town. I have never seen a person give so much love to a dog that is not hers. She amazes me each time she cares for him. When I pick him up she always has pictures and stories to tell me about  Peppa’s activities while I was gone.  He only  weighs 4 lbs, but she does a great job making sure her two Border Collie’s adapt to my little Pomeranian. I don’t trust many people with my baby Peppa, but Doris has proven to me that she is more than capable and handling any animal in her care.'

'We are very pleased with the training that Bella received from Doris. The instructions were simple and effective and we could see the impact of some drills almost immediately. Doris provided us with the tools we needed to help Bella become a more confident and happier dog, since she was very reactive towards other dogs on leash. The best lessons were when we were outside with other dogs around. It put us and Bella out of our comfort zone at first because we know how she used to react. It also showed how far she had come in the matter of weeks. Each lesson had a valuable tool that we wanted to work on.' Cynthia & Randy White, Huntersville

'Doris was timely and prepared for each of our training sessions. She always sent reminders prior to the session and homework handouts after each session.  She was very patient with us and allowed us to ask as many questions as we wanted. She never rushed us or dismissed our questions or concerns.  She was very loving with the dogs and they were all crazy about her. She even brought over some of her dogs to allow our dogs to interact with others since we don’t take them out very much.  She helped us several times attempt to get two of the dogs to stop fighting (one was a rescue dog). This was a very emotional experience for us and Doris made several trips and spent a lot of time on the phone with us discussing the situation. She was always available and shared her experience concerning dogs that just don’t like each other. She helped us see that we were not going to be able to resolve the issues between the two dogs. Doris is always positive, encouraging and a pleasure to be around. We would certainly recommend her to others and would use her again in the future.' 'We entered the process knowing that we needed training for ourselves, so that we could be good pet owners.  Doris gave us the tools and training we needed to practice with our dog.  She also created scenarios that we would encounter in the real world, I.e. seeing other dogs during walks, etc. so we could practice in those situations.  The homework she gave out reinforced what we learned each week and became a good reference guide.  She also responded well to emails when we had questions or were having trouble with something and needed more guidance.  I would recommend Doris to everyone.'
